University of Exeter
Dr Hanbin Zhang is a Lecturer and exposure scientist at the European Centre for Environment and Human Health (ECEHH), University of Exeter.
Hanbin’s research focuses on the impacts of air pollution on human health and on co-creating solutions to address these challenges. His work takes place in Low-and Middle-Income Areas where high level of exposure inequality exists and reliable measurements are often lacking. He uses wearable sensors to investigate indoor air quality, personal exposure to air pollution, and the sources from which pollutants originate.
Hanbin is the Regional Clean Air Champion for Southwest England and lead for GW4 Air Network – a network that aims to promote research, collaboration, funding applications, public awareness, and monitoring capacity on air quality and health in the Southwest England and Wales. Currently the network reaches 43 members from eight major institutions in this region. He also organised the NERC Advanced Training Course on wearable sensor technology for personal sensing of air pollution, most recently held in 2024.
As part of the Net+ Centre, Hanbin is a Theme 2 Co-Investigator, providing inputs on co-benefits (air pollution).
